“Vezzoli Spring-Summer” Fondazione Pitti Discovery

At Florence Hometown of Fashion's work Francesco Vezzoli will be presented for the first time in Florence in a special project Fondazione Pitti Discovery curated by Francesco Bonami.
The exhibition will open on Tuesday 17 June 2014, pm 17 pm 20.
Conceived as a tribute to the city and its heritage museum, “Vezzoli Spring-Summer"Will be a solo exhibition of the artist's in three places" secrets "of the culture of Florence: il Museo Bardini, to the Museum Casa Martelli and Bellini. Three small and precious museum houses, often at the edge of the tourist trails, belonged to noble families, major collectors and antique dealers.
The choice of the three museums is driven by the desire to Vezzoli to convey to the viewer a sense of closeness and intimacy with the work of art, very different than what would be created within the museum monumental architecture. Come famous Miscellaneous rubber case-museo, such as that of Mario Praz in Rome or the Soane Museum in London, the three areas of Florence, in addition to being a personal vision and "domestic" art, that reflects the taste of those who inhabited those rooms, also encourage reflection on issues such as memory, the relationship with history, the contradiction between public and private, all crucial in the work of the artist.
The exhibition unfolds as the three places: dialogue and a comparison with the existing, where contemporary works will relate with the space and the objects in it this, as camouflaging, in order to create various and multiple levels of narrative and interpretive.
Within each museum, in fact, Vezzoli infiltrate - as if they were "impertinent violations" - a series of his works, including several new works created specifically for this project, stimulating the viewer to a comparison with the existing collections. The result will be a short circuit at the same time a creative and successful artistic camouflage: at first glance, Vezzoli's works seem to have been a part of the environment that surrounds them.
To quote some of the incursions of the artist: al Museo Bardini, in the "Hall of Madonnas", within a group of works in stucco and terracotta representing the production of the most important Florentine workshops of the fifteenth century, from Donatello to Verrocchio, Vezzoli inserirà le sue due Madonne Crying Portrait of Stephanie Seymour as a Renaissance Madonna with Holy Child e Crying Portrait of Christie Brinkley as a Renaissance Madonna With Holy Child. Al Museo Bellini, in the "Sala de Chirico" the artist will place two of his works inspired by the Italian master of metaphysics that portray Sophia Loren, alongside the authentic “Arab horse with rider”, and in the "Hall of Tapestries" will replace a piece of the Flemish school of the late sixteenth century with his work A Present for the Artist, Dedicated all'artista Marina Abramovic. And again, in the Chapel of the Museum Casa Martelli, where are the protagonists of the Madonnas attributed to the school Filippo Lippi, Vezzoli exhibit his self-portrait Self-Portrait As A Self Portrait (After Raffaello Sanzio).
