Accompanying the director, loyal guest of the event, SaraEMMANUELLE DEVOS, muse and face of much of Desplechin's cinema, one of the interpreters, together with Denis Podalydès, Léa Seydoux, Anouk Grinberg, Rebecca Marder, of the stellar cast of this eleventh feature film. With this movie, filmed in the middle of the pandemic, Desplechin, thecine-fil unorthodox of cinema beyond the Alps, writes a new intense chapter in his filmography, a tribute to love that does not lose sight of the power of words and sensuality. Because for Desplechin cinema is an existential and sentimental X-ray, a way of exorcising death: like telling to exist.
DECEPTION | DECEIT | sinossi | In the London of 1987, the famous American writer Philip (Denis Podalydès) “exiled” in the City with his wife, he regularly meets his English lover – played by Léa Seydoux – in his studio, became their refuge and hiding place. Return to Rendezvous tooLAURENT SINGS which presents in Rome the1 April to theNew Sacher Cinemahis eighth feature film: ARTHUR RAMBO.
The director's new film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, tells of rise, glory and fall of a young militant writer, in the times of social media. Inspired by a true story, and performed by Rabah Nait Oufella (who was a teenager when he was part of the filmLa classe), the film is fully in line with the social cinema of the French filmmaker accustomed to looking society in the eye, without moralism, trying to investigate the modern world in all its complexity. Cantet not only rediscovers his favorite themes, the strength of the group and friendship, lost illusions, but it renews the political question and the dialectic between individual and group, placing them in the abstract and dangerous perimeter of the world of social media.
ARTHUR RAMBO | sinossi | Karim D. It's the phenomenon of the moment: a trendy young novelist from the suburbs, symbol of multicultural France and icon of anti-racism. Despite being pampered and protected by newspapers and television, Karim ends up in a media meat grinder when someone digs up old anti-Semitic tweets, homophobes and misogynists who posted under the pseudonym Arthur Rambo. Inspired by the case of Mehdi Meklat, Cantet's eighth feature film addresses the question of identity, providing relentless testimony to the violence of social media mechanisms.
The film, distributed in Italy by KITCHEN FILM, will be released in Italian cinemas28 April 2022.
Still social and militant cinema that ofSTÉPHANE BRIZÉ which he presents in Rome on Friday 1 April ofNew Sacher Cinema: ANOTHER WORLD | ANOTHER WORLD, in competition at the Venice Film Festival 78.
In the last chapter of the trilogy dedicated to the world of work (afterThe law of the market andAt war) Brizé brings the blackmail of the globalized economy to the stage, the drift of ultra liberalism, questioning the question of choice and responsibility. In nine feature films, the filmmaker established himself with a political cinema, dry, which has its roots in reality, with a naturalistic and at the same time profoundly human slant. For this latest emotional portrait he reunites with Vincent Lindon andSANDRINE KIBERLAIN. The actress will be present in Rome.
ANOTHER WORLD | ANOTHER WORLD | sinossi | Philippe Lesmele is a manager in deep crisis: he is divorcing his wife and has been swallowed up by the pressures of work. With our backs against the wall, he no longer knows how to respond to the pressing requests of his superiors. Yesterday they wanted a manager, today an executor of their layoff plan: the breaking point is now imminent. AfterThe law of the market andAt war, Brizé closes the trilogy on work with a sharp political-social drama on the terminal crisis of capitalism and the loneliness of a man who is no longer willing to give up his freedom.
The film distributed in Italy byMOVIES INSPIRED will be released in Italian cinemas1 April 2022.
