Saturday 3 September was presented to the press of Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia the third edition of RB Casting Collateral Award, a recognition addressed exclusively to the Italian performers of the films present in the Official Selection. To attend the event, the attrice Maria Chiara Giannetta.
The prize for the best interpretation will be awarded by a jury made up of important casting directors. The members of the jury are: Marita D'Elia (“Reality”, “The tenderness”, “welcome to the South”, “Sea Outside”, “The Hidden Child”), Marco Matteo Donat-Cattin (“Brigands”, “The king”, “Bangla”, “Baby”, “The Divine Pigtail”) and Florinda Martucciello (“My Brilliant Friend – Story of those who flee and those who remain”, “The lying life of adults”, “Gomorrah 5”, “Masantonio”, “Give me up”).
The Venice Film Festival is the first international festival to officially approve an award awarded by casting directors alone.
During the entire period of the Exhibition, scheduled 31 August 10 September, the three castings will participate in the screenings of the films selected in Competition, Out of Competition and in the Orizzonti and Orizzonti Extra sections. The best actor or best actress will be announced on 10 September. The objective of the award is to enhance not only the winning actor but also the casting director category, fundamental professional figure in the composition of the artistic cast of a film. Casting directors are awarded at the BAFTAs, at the Emmy Awards and in Italy at the Nastri d'Argento, they vote for the Oscars, the EFA and the David di Donatello.
