Premio BSI Swiss Architectural Award 2014

Jose Maria Sanchez Garcia is the winner of the fourth edition of the BSI Swiss Architectural Award, international architecture award promoted by the BSI Architectural Foundation, under the auspices of the Federal Office for Culture in Bern and the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio (University of Italian Switzerland), in collaboration with the Archive of Modern Mendrisio.
The Spanish architect Jose Maria Sanchez Garcia, even forty, has been awarded for the arrangement of the Temple of Diana in Merida (2005-2008), the sports center for innovation "el Anillo" in Guijo de Granadilla (Caceres, 2008-2009) and the center for rowing to Alange (Badajoz, 2008-2010). According to the architect Mario Botta, President of the Jury, Sanchez Garcia is "capable of dealing with the same rigor and precision with programs and different contexts, from the redevelopment of the archaeological heritage in the urban fabric to the establishment of sports facilities in a picturesque landscape. Its operations are translated into a measured and powerful at the same time, free from complacency formal, ordering and configuring a place, highlighting the specific qualities.”
The award, which amounts to 100.000 crossed, will be awarded to the winner of the next 18 September 2014 Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio (University of Italian Switzerland) during a ceremony that will also mark the opening of the exhibition of works submitted by candidates.
