Chanel ephemeral Boutique Saint Tropez

For the fourth year in a row Chanel has taken up its summer residence in Saint Tropez. With a minimalist scenography La Mistralée Hotel is once again host to the showcase that welcomes the ephemeral boutique of the House devoted to the 2013 Spring-Summer Ready-to-Wear and Accessories collections as well as the 2012/13 Paris-Edimbourg Metiers d’art collection.

Playing with linear geometry this new space is structured around a raw sipo wood framework hose pinky red tones softly contrast with the white walls and antique parquet. With its transparent glass ceiling, like that of a loft, the space is infused with natural luminosity.

The accessories and ready-to-wear are elegantly suspended from the framework -the only furnishing in the building- and appear to float with in this purified space.

A single glass showcase is host to the new Première watch. Leading off from the main living room a winter garden and its conservatory are pierced with bright sunshine.

The intense Mediterranean light is filtered through giant wooden parasols which in turn are hung with clothes and accessories from the collections.

This beautiful 19th century mansion house is also home to a luxuriant garden and swimming pool.

White lacquered wood chairs and tables are placed here and there in the shade of parasols crafted from corten -artificially weathered steel –giving visitors the chance to fully appreciate the beauty and serenity of the venue.

It’s a summery interlude before entering the pool house designed to resemble a real CHANEL boutique with its signature black, beige and white décor, punctuated with shades of verdigris. Inside the swimwear, towels and beachwear exude the happiest of moods and a lust for summer that Gabrielle Chanel herself wouldn’t have been able to resist…
