CODE BARS days of free publishing is an event dedicated to the "book world" in all its aspects, with the participation of publishers, authors, booksellers, printers, bookbinders and illustrators. The event intends to turn for four days in a real "citadel of the book" the whole complex of the Walled.

The Walled have become an important point Reference in the town map for marked presence of social and cultural activities, among which stands out that of Literary Cafe Le Murate, managed space from a pool of cultural associations and issuer Controradio, that It promotes multiple activities: by the diffusion of the book and reading promotion, with prominent guests from the literary world, the talk show weekly Controradio and intense musical activity.

CODE BARS days of free publishing therefore it arises as natural outcome of the experience of these first two years of intense activity, gathering requests of numerous publishers, writers and cultural workers, to offer the city - once one of the publishing culture capital - a real celebration of the book which have joined more than 50 publishers.

The outdoor areas of the Walled - the two squares, the courtyards, loggias - and internal - the various halls of the Suc, the old prison cells - will be "occupied" by the stand of Publishers e “open "until late at night to readers of all ages,for four days of literary events, with live links on Controradio frequencies.

Numerous actually involved in the initiative: In fact, the event sees the collaboration of EcoEquo door of the City of Florence, which it is based for years in the Murate and, in addition to proposing a section devoted to issues of economic and environmental sustainability, with the involvement of specialized publishing houses and a dense network of associations, will make its facilities available for an internet corner in the Associazione Free Computer opened throughout the event.

Then there is the RKCenter, which will host some events in the courtyard spaces devoted to the issues of civil rights. Among the external reality that they will find hospitality at the event include: Sources of information that will cure the project Novelle freehand dedicated to "Novelle grandmother" Emma Perodi, with a program of two exhibitions on the cover illustrated, historical and contemporary, readings, a seminar on the drawing, a workshop for kids, artistic and musical improvisation; and AV Archives Farabola Milan, with Portrait d'Autore, a photo exhibition dedicated to the major protagonists of Italian literary society of the twentieth century, by Gadda in Montale, Testori to Pasolini, by Flaiano to Morante, with a selection of beautiful portraits from one of the largest archives in Europe, Active since 1896.

Many events scheduled, for a calendar still work in progress:

a musical reading from the book "My best Jewish jokes" (the Giuntina) you will see on the stage of the WalledDaniel Vogelmann, who has just been awarded "Citizen of Europe 2013", with enrico Fink; Ascanio Celestini, Massimo Carlotto, finalist at the Premio Strega Matteo Marchesini, the Director Calopresti, former Superintendent and Minister Antonio Paolucci and the radical former lawmaker Gianfranco Spadaccia,readings and stories of the partisan resistance in collaboration with ANPI, three meetings by "Florence of Literature" on the new Florentine literary scene, on the criticality of the editorial system and on the meeting between publishing and digital; a valuable program of workshops and meetings dedicated to young readers with Lapis publishers, Topopittori, Babalibri, Bohem press, Carthusia, Donzelli, Kalandraka, Unripe ear, Prince and Prince; the section devoted to economic and environmental compatibility by the EcoEquo door with industry publishing and meetings with, among others, Rossano Ercolini and Carlo Gubitosa; Marco Videtta, Andrea Morpurgo, Ugo Cornia, Luciano and Ricciardo Artusi, Pippo Russo, Francesca Zannoner and many other events to be defined. To learn more about the book in all its aspects are planned restoration ancient books and bookbinding workshops by Maria Argiero, expert restorer.

CODE BARS days of free publishing, with the support of the City of Florence, si opens Friday 21 June at 18.00 on the occasion of the white night of Italian libraries and closes Monday 24 June, Feast of St. John, patron saint of Florence. Saturday 22, Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June opens at 10. Remains open every evening until midnight.

WHERE

A Firenze, from 21 to the 24 June, the entire complex of the Walled (courtyards and interior spaces) in Via Ghibellina 2 and Via dell ' 1. The event is free admission.
