Florence 1865 – 2015 A new capital of culture, costume, architecture

At Space A, in Lungarno Benvenuto Cellini 13a, continues the series of meetings Florence 1865 – 2015. A new capital of culture, costume, architecture, organized by Forma Editions to celebrate the 150Anniversary the year in which our city became the capital of the then young Italian Kingdom. The series of meetings, edited by Riccardo Bruscagli and Laura Andreini, will host a monthly basis, up to 2 December 2015, scholars of various sectors to explore this event in our national history under different points of view, all attributable to reconstruct the impact, many ways traumatic, that promotion capital provoked in the sleepy capital of Tuscany. The meetings are sponsored by "Florence Capital 1865 - 2015 "and are held at 17.30.
The next meeting is Wednesday 18 February with Carlo Sisi, who will give a lecture entitled "The Academy or Coffee: artistic controversy when Florence was the capital”. The art historian, former Director of the Museum of Modern Art in Palazzo Pitti, illustrate the backlash of demolition citizens in pictorial evidence of the time, in particular through the paintings of Signorini, Giovanni Fattori, Raffaello Sernesi, Odoardo Borrani and Silvestro Lega, the group of painters who own in Florence, at Caffè Michelangelo, gave birth to the anti-academic Macchiaioli. Lovers of pastoral and rural environments, these artists lived in close contact with nature, until the Sixties 800, was immediately around Florence. Depicting gardens, fields and the banks of the Arno in the area called Pergentina (today remained in the topography town Via Piagentina), the area just outside the Piazza Croce, that extended up to Varlungo and went up the creek Africo, then crossed by six bridges, up to San Gervasio. Which, in an expanse of gardens and countryside, composed some of their best works, representing that nature that, shortly, began to suffer irreparable transformations with the great works of Poggi Florence Capital.
