The Cassetti Firenze watch assistance center

Cassetti Firenze inaugurates its new one watch service center a stone's throw from Ponte Vecchio, piazza del Pesce 1, in a suggestive location overlooking the Vasari Corridor. The watch assistance laboratory represents the realization of one of the most important company focuses: customer care and the products purchased in stores “We are committed to assisting the customer by informing him about the characteristics and peculiarities of the watch, in order to guarantee its use for its perfect functioning" says Cassetti “inviting him to take constant care of it on the importance of periodic revisions at our Laboratorio”.

Let's briefly review the company history. We are in the 1926 with Renzo Cassetti which opens the first small laboratory on the Costa dei Magnoli in Florence. Its production specializes in hand-crafted and chiselled silverware. The success achieved allows him to increase production and expand, starting a process of transformation that leads the small manufacturing industry to become, in the 80s, one of the first Italian industries in its field. In 1976 The first shop dedicated to the public opens on Ponte Vecchio, at number 54r, and in a few years three other points of sale specializing in elite jewellery. The turning point comes in 2008 with the inclusion of the most prestigious Swiss high-end watchmaking brands in the world in its Ponte Vecchio windows: Rolex, Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Iwc, Jaeger le Coutre, Chopard. Today Renzo's children are present in the company, Andrea and Maria Grazia, and the third generation represented by Filippo and Lorenzo.

But let's return to the Laboratory and its characteristics that make it unique in the national and international panorama. In addition to competence, to the high precision equipment and technical preparation that distinguishes master watchmakers, who periodically participate in refresher courses, there is something special: the’pure aria.

Cassetti created the first watchmaking assistance laboratory in the world with an innovative technical solution, “The Air Factory”, thanks to the collaboration with the University of Florence, under the direction of Prof. Stefano Mancuso, full professor at the faculty of Florence and director of the International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology (LINV) with offices around the world.  “The Air Factory” is the botanical filtration system that uses plants for purification of the air from pollutants. The quality of the air in the workplace affects people's health and with this operation Cassetti wants to highlight the importance of its collaborators ensuring their physical well-being, in addition to safety. Botanical filtration, as happens in a forest or in the Amazon rainforest, uses plants and the substrate on which they are grown to purify the air. The air flow is forced to pass through the filter made up of both the substrate and the plants themselves. When pollutants pass through the porous medium, these undergo some mass transfer mechanisms, absorption and degradation. From the gaseous phase the contaminants pass to the liquid and solid phase to be then biodegraded by the microbial communities present in the substrate.

The air to be purified is passed through a cavity under the walking surface, flows through the filter modules, where the plants are planted, and then return, purified, in the environment. The entire system is constantly monitored via a computer that shows the quality of the incoming and outgoing air. The added value is to "keep" inside the watch purified air which allows for better functioning and excellent conservation.

Furthermore, the laboratory aims to be a multifunctional space, where to organize conferences and seminars on watchmaking with technicians and international managers of partner brands.
