“Basic” Naji Abu Nowar

SYNOPSIS

Arabia, 1916 Basic (Basic means wolf in Arabic) lives with his Bedouin tribes in a remote corner of the Ottoman Empire. Having recently lost his father, it is up to his brother Hussein, take care of him. Hussein tries to teach theeb the Bedouin lifestyle, but the guy is more interested in jokes that the lessons. A change in their lives is the arrival of a British army officer and his guide, engaged in a mysterious mission. Not being able to refuse assistance to its guests, for fear of dishonor the reputation of his father, Hussein agrees to escort the couple to destination, a well on the old pilgrimage route to Mecca. Fearful of losing his brother, Theeb chases Hussein and embarks on a treacherous journey through the Arabian desert. Since the outbreak of the First World War, this hostile terrain has become the place to hunt for mercenaries Ottoman, Arab revolutionaries and jackals Bedouins. If theeb wants to survive it must grow up quickly, learning to distinguish between truth and falsehood. Must live up to the name that his father gave him.
