The iconic seats Luxy interpreted by the artist Andrea Bianconi with the irreverent writing Sit Down To Have an Idea® and presented at the beginning of the year at the Rinascente in Milan in an Instagram Corner with a new and innovative format, they become a limited series collection. The four original works of art designed by Andrea Bianconi on two iconic Luxy models, the Biga and the Italia (both designed by the Favaretto studio & Partner per Luxy), in the meantime they concluded an epic journey in four symbolic European cities, told by the attentive and creative gaze of four great international photographers.
Sit Down To Have an Idea®it is the project of Andrea Bianconiwhich puts Man with his ideas back at the center and whichLuxy, international brand specialized in the production of designer seating, wanted to share with the artist an important reflection perfectly in line with the brand's philosophy on new functional needs, aesthetic and psychological aspects of contemporary living born in parallel with Smartworking. Remote working has made the boundary between office and living space labile and indefinable, the house is the new container of our daily life, not only at home but also at work, while the office has transformed into a fluid space, increasingly rich in personality. Thus new needs arise, such as making the place where we live a more flexible and welcoming environment.
In this context,, the armchair remains an iconic object and, on the contrary, it represents even more the place where you can bring your ideas to life, where you can imagine again, think, create. For this reason the Artist, the Art and Design ofSit Down To Have an Idea® they are person-oriented and not the other way around, offering not just a furnishing accessory, but a real experience.
“The function of an object that conciliates idleness has ceased, the armchairs that I personalized with the sloganSit Down To Have an Idea®they become a sort of incubator of ideas. A chair for everyone is an idea for everyone"statesAndrea Bianconi.
The creative path and the search for Sit Down To Have an Idea®dell’artist continues through the gaze and expressive language of four international photographers – Nicola Lo Calzo, Besana Guide, Giulia Mangione e Alberto Giuliani – who brought with them the chairs designed by Andrea Bianconi to their places and cities. Everyone has attributed a different meaning and soul to the chair, contextualising them and giving them a new value and role, personal and intimate. Every fragment of this journey has been documented and fixed in time thanks to photographic shots and authorial videos, along with meticulous travel notes describing every step, thoughts and feelings of the photographer, who in this second phase of the project becomes co-artist of a more detailed and complex work. He is ready Sit Down To Have an Idea®it thus becomes a powerful means of expression to give life to a sophisticated set of ideas, different contaminations and suggestions.
In particular, Nicola Lo Calzo takes us to the most authentic Paris, between the streets adjacent to the Gare de Lyon, creating a dialogue between passers-by and the chair and giving voice to a pungent reality, hitherto silent. Luxy becomes an element of the city, a bit like its inhabitants or street furniture, and highlights an exceptional microcosm, multiple communities and belongings.Besana Guide introduces us to the magical Catalan culture, on the joyful and desperate notes of Flamenco, punctuated by the clapping of the feet and hands of the dancing dancers. Magnetism and almost mysterious sacred and profane suggestions of an entirely feminine world.Giulia Mangione brought the Luxy chair to Oslo, entering the snow-covered nature of the Norwegian landscape, transforming the Luxy chair now into an alternative sled, now into a faithful ice fishing companion, finally in a perfect furnishing element of a Norwegian tent. The Luxy chair is decontextualized and inserted into an unexpected environment and acquires an ironic and playful personality. Il lavoro diAlberto Giuliani it is a reflection on the concept of idea as "vision", always personal and elusive. To grasp it we need to stop, think and listen. Giuliani invited people of similar nature to a neutral place, even before doing so by profession, they use thought to imagine the future or understand the present. The philosopher and the child, the psychotherapist or the poet, everyone sat on the armchair to think and share their reflections around the concept of an idea. The void of space was thus filled with free thoughts, surprising and intimate, the result of a meeting devoid of external stimuli, which revealed the common and urgent need to dream.
The four final works, composed of the chair and all the documentation produced by the four photographers, they will be auctioned off to donate the entire proceeds to charity. A decision that once again underlines the centrality of the person in this project and in Luxy's DNA. The Sit Down To Have an Idea journey® it does not end here. To offer the possibility of owning part of this work and this experience, Andrea Bianconi and Luxy will createa multiplo of arte esclusivo alimited edition some chairs, withartist's declaration of authenticity, available for purchase via the Luxy website.
