From 28 novembre al 19 December 2025, the rooms of Palazzo Rosselli del Turco in via dei Serragli in Florence will host Enrico Embroli's personal exhibition, At the edge of perception: a journey that investigates the limits and ambiguities of visual perception through works that question the boundary between plane and space, between reality and optical construction.
Embroli's research explores the tension between the two-dimensionality of the image and the three-dimensionality of the gaze. His works — paintings, reliefs and installations — inhabit a border area, where the surface becomes a threshold, illusion, paradox. In his “architectures of the gaze”, how the artist defines his compositions, space emerges from lines and planes, it is dismantled and rebuilt in a continuous dialogue between visible and invisible.
The exhibition itinerary develops through the fundamental nuclei of his research:
- The deceptions of the surface, where painting becomes an ambiguous language, capable at the same time of hiding and revealing;
- The illusion of depth, which pushes the viewer to question the very nature of seeing;
- At the edge of perception, in which form dissolves until it becomes pure optical experience;
- The paradox of the surface, landing point and synthesis of an investigation that embraces the instability of the gaze.
