“Sgargiantesobrio” Contemporary Japanese Crafts

At the Japanese Cultural Institute in Rome was inaugurated the exhibition “Sgargiantesobrio” edited by Masami Shiraishi.
Six sections, alias six degrees of separation stylistic and formal, bind the most iconic representations of contemporary Japanese crafts, that makes use of age-old lacquer, wood, ceramic, mother of pearl and metal. Handicraft – si noti – of a culture, the Japanese, that does not make hierarchical distinctions between art, application and media. In qur di Shiraishi Masami, director of the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art. Alongside the exhibition a series of demonstrations of ikebana, by the Ikebana International in Rome.
